Railyard Skate Park Meets Goal

As you may know Mayor Roman has been working on getting a permanent concrete skate park for the entire community to enjoy for years to come. With collaborative efforts of volunteers from Friends of the Railyard and Lockport Community Services, Inc we have been able to obtain many grants. The first grant we received for this phase of the skatepark was by Ralph Wilson Jr. Foundation in collaboration with the Skatepark Project (formerly Tony Hawk Foundation). They are provided $250,000 in match grants, as well as an additional $50,000 for the Green Infrastructure aspects of the project. Through the efforts of Dr. John Craig who wrote and submitted dozens of grant applications to numerous foundations and organizations, as well as local people donating through Facebook, our various fundraisers, and more, we have met the goal. We will be building a $550,000 skatepark by the end of 2022.

Full details will be provided on December 16 at 6:00 pm during a press conference at city hall.
